IMHO support of the BIS is critical. Don't take me wrong, personally I couldn't care less. My Exchange email works perfectly an data allowance is generous. However in many countries BlackBerry is popular because of the benefits provided by the BIS.
Compression is very important in the countries with expensive data comparing to purchase power. Nokia understands this perfectly and is copying it for their Asha line web browser.
For the many people their mobile is their only computer, and as I read on forum in Singapore thousands of the small businesses rely on operator provided BIS email.
International roaming data charges are one area where everyone can benefit.
Do you have more examples?
