Gmail vs outlook on bb10

My default email and calendar is my Gmail but why can't I set the sync email setting to forever unlike my outlook? With outlook I get the advanced button at the bottom and I can easily set sync duration. Can't dins it in Gmail. Is it because it's my default or is that just how Gmail and outlook works?

Also how do I enable the type and go feature for the z10? Been trying to text directly from the search text box but it doesn't work
