Phone app issue

I was just on my z10 about to make a phone call try to press the tab to get the dial pad it would not allow me to move from the call log tab even though I was pressing it the dial pad tab . I even closes it and tried it again, still didn't work. The dial pad tab would be highlighted but it still would be on the call log tab.
