In BBM for BlackBerry, in the invites section there is a tab for suggested invites. As I understand it, your phone book is scanned, and if you have the BBID of someone who uses BBM stored under contacts on your phone, they will show up in the suggested section.
As far as my experience goes, this is hit and miss. I have friends on iOS, Android, and BlackBerry whose BBID I have on my phone who don't show up under suggested invites. I also have people on all three platforms who do show up.
My question is, what causes someone to show up? From my experiments, I gather that you need more then someones BBID for this feature to work.
