Formatting of Earlier Emails Terrible

If you scroll a few emails earlier into a conversation in Portrait (or on a Q10), it's Illegible. There is plenty of room. Why does BlackBerry do this:

But why condense it so much at all? There is plenty of width to be used. WTH?

And yes, I know I spelled Medelln wrong.
